Estimate materials and costs for home and construction projects. Each calculator explains the formulas and assumptions it uses, so you can see how a result is reached before you order.
Area & Volume Calculators
- Area Calculator for Rectangular Rooms, Yards and Lots: find the area of a rectangle in square feet, square yards and square metres.
- Cubic Yards Calculator: find the volume of a box-shaped space in cubic feet, cubic yards and cubic metres.
Asphalt & Driveway Calculators
- Asphalt Calculator for Tons of Asphalt: estimate the tons of asphalt an area needs from its thickness and the density of your mix.
Concrete Calculators
- Concrete Calculator for Slabs, Footings, Walls and Columns: estimate cubic yards of concrete for rectangular pours or round columns.
- Concrete Slab Calculator: estimate concrete for a rectangular slab, pad, patio, floor or footing.
Paving & Hardscape Calculators
- Paver Calculator for Patios and Paths: count the pavers for a patio or path and estimate the gravel base and bedding sand.
Roofing Calculators
- Roofing Calculator for Pitched Roofs: estimate roof surface area, the roofing to buy and the number of roofing squares from the footprint and pitch.
Limitations & Assumptions
- Results are estimates from the numbers you enter. Actual quantities depend on ground conditions, waste, delivery and how your supplier sells the material.
- Densities, bag sizes and prices are figures you enter. Mix densities and product sizes vary, so use the figure from your supplier or the product label.
- The roofing calculator assumes a simple roof with the same pitch on every face. For other roofs, calculate each section separately.
- Paver counts divide the area by the paver size and do not allow for joint spacing. Confirm sizes with your supplier.
- Unit conversions use exact NIST definitions, listed on the Sources page.
- Check quantities with your supplier or a qualified professional before you order or start work. Local codes and conditions may apply.
- These calculators are not engineering or other professional advice. See the Disclaimer.
